WPIR JoyFM of Hickory collected school supplies for Barium Springs Home for Children from 2-5 p.m. on Friday at the Food Lion in Troutman. The last of three collection remotes, the station has already collected school supplies at the Wal-Mart in Conover and EPW Communications in Lincolnton.
JoyFM is excited about giving people an opportunity to give to needy children heading back to school. Before Friday's collection, the community donated 920 folders, 200 ring binders, 175 rulers, almost 600 packs of paper, more than 400 spiral notebooks and much more.
"We've had such a huge response from our listeners. It's been incredible," shares Sam Stutts, Station Manager of WPIR JoyFM.
