No. 12 Oklahoma, No. 21 Davidson 78: Blake Griffin had 25 points and pulled down a career-high 21 rebounds, freshman Willie Warren added 20 points and Oklahoma overcame the highest-scoring game of Stephen Curry's career to beat Davidson last night in Norman, Okla.
Curry tried to will his team back from a 21-point deficit in the second half, and got the Wildcats to three points behind with a 3-pointer in the final minute. But Griffin, a fellow preseason All-America, snagged a key offensive rebound to help the Sooners close it out with three free throws by Cade Davis.
Curry had 44 points on 12-for-29 shooting and went 6 for 15 from 3-point range.
The Sooners advanced to the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off next week in New York.

No. 7 Texas 76, Tulane 51: Damion James scored 16 points and Texas cruised last night in Austin, Texas.
Dexter Pittman, a 6-10, 300-pound junior forward, had 10 points and six rebounds in his second career start for the Longhorns (2-0), who had five players score in double figures. A.J. Abrams, who had 21 points in the season-opener, had 15 against Tulane, hitting three 3-pointers.
Kevin Sims scored 11 points to lead Tulane (1-1).

No. 9 Gonzaga 80, Idaho 46: Micah Downs scored 18 points and Austin Daye added 16 as Gonzaga won for ninth consecutive time over Idaho last night in Spokane, Wash.
Josh Heytvelt added 15 points for the Bulldogs (2-0), who scored the first 17 points of the game.
Mac Hopson led Idaho (1-2) with 19 points.

No. 11 Purdue 78, Loyola of Chicago 46: E'Twaun Moore scored 14 points and Purdue advanced to the NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals with a win last night in West Lafayette, Ind.
Robbie Hummel scored 13 points and Marcus Green had 12 points and matched his career-high with 10 rebounds for the Boilermakers (3-0), who will play Boston College in New York on Nov. 26.
Justin Cerasoli had 14 points for the Ramblers (1-2), who were coming off a 74-53 win over Georgia on Monday but shot just 30 percent against the Boilermakers.

No. 14 Tennessee 91, Tenn.-Martin 64: Reserve forward Brian Williams scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Tennessee in its 34th consecutive home victory last night in Knoxville, Tenn., breaking the school record set from 1966 through '68.
Tyler Smith scored seven of his 19 points in the first 2½ minutes for the Volunteers (2-0), who opened the game on a 27-6 run.
Lester Hudson, the Ohio Valley Conference preseason player of the pear, went 1 of 7 from the field in the first half for the Skyhawks (0-2). Hudson had 18 points in the second half to finish with 20.

No. 19 Southern Cal 73, New Mexico State 60: Taj Gibson tied his career high with 22 points and had a career-best 10 rebounds for Southern California last night in Los Angeles.
Dwight Lewis added 16 points and Daniel Hackett had 10 for the Trojans.
DeMar DeRozan, Southern Cal's highly touted freshman making his second start, finished with seven points after scoring 14 in his college debut.
Jahmar Young had 16 points and seven rebounds and Troy Gillenwater added 15 points for the Aggies (1-1).

No. 24 Kansas 85, Florida Gulf Coast 45: Sherron Collins had a career-high 25 points for Kansas, which raised its 2008 national-championship banner last night in Lawrence, Kan.
The Jayhawks (2-0) celebrated last season's national title during a pregame ceremony that unveiled the school's fifth national-championship banner at the north end of Allen Fieldhouse.
Reed Baker had 11 points for Gulf Coast, which had 24 turnovers.

No. 25 Wisconsin 88, SIU-Edwardsville 58: Reserve Jon Leuer scored 19 points to lead Wisconsin last night in Madison, Wis.
Marcus Landry added 15 points for the Badgers (2-0), while Jason Bohannon had 14 and Trevon Hughes 11, even though the starters spent most of the second half on the bench.
Barry Wellington led Edwardsville (1-3) with 15 points.

State/area

Florida State 65, La Salle 61: Sophomore guard Jordan DeMercy scored the game's last four points in the final 27 seconds and Florida State defeated La Salle last night in Philadelphia.
Toney Douglas had 18 points and Ryan Reid 11 for Florida State (2-0), the first school from the Atlantic Coast Conference to visit La Salle's Tom Gola Arena.

UNC Asheville 84, Liberty 56: J.P. Primm had 21 points and Sean Smith added 17 to lead UNC Asheville past visiting Liberty in the teams' Big South opener yesterday.
Reid Augst finished with 13 points for the Bulldogs (3-0), who held a 49-31 rebounding advantage.
Freshman Seth Curry — the younger brother of Davidson's Stephen Curry — had 18 points and preseason Big South player of the year Anthony Smith added 13 points for Liberty (1-1).
The Bulldogs never trailed, led by 10 midway through the first half and held a 49-30 halftime lead.

Boston College 82, St. John's 70: Joe Trapani scored seven of his 19 points during a game-breaking second-half run that led Boston College to a quarterfinal win over visiting St. John's last night in the NIT Season Tip-Off tournament.
Tyrese Rice paced the Eagles (3-0) with 28 points and nine assists. It was the first meeting between the schools since BC bolted the Big East for the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2005. Rakim Sanders added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
BC will play No. 11 Purdue in the semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York next Wednesday.

Elon 83, Southern Virginia 55: Brett James had 20 points to lead Elon past visiting Southern Virginia last night.
Ola Atoyebi added 13 points, as four players scored in double figures for Elon (1-1). Adam Constantine contributed 10, while Drew Spradlin scored 13 off the bench.

Longwood 85, Gardner-Webb 84: Ryan Bogan hit a free throw with five seconds remaining to lift Longwood over Gardner-Webb last night in Farmville, Va.
Anton Silver led Gardner-Webb with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Akron 72, Winthrop 58: Darryl Roberts posted 17 points to lead Akron over visiting Winthrop last night.
Cameron Stanley led Winthrop (1-2) with 17 points.
