Hickory - 1. Ask about warranties. Most stores offer them but there's usually some fine print. What you want to know is whether you're going to have to pay anything to replace your lenses or frames should you break them or if your doctor changes your prescription. Also ask what your options are if you decide you just don't like them after a few days or even a month or more.
2. Get funky. Even men's styles are showing more interesting details like different colors and features like cut-outs, ribbons of color and unusual designs on the temples. The trendy types don't always cost a lot more, either. Vogue has some funky frames that run around $119 at Treasure's Vision.
3. Try on a lot. There are plenty of rules about which glasses look best. Close set eyes need a narrow pair. Wide-set eyes demand a wider frame. If you've got dark eyebrows, a frame with a straight, dark line across the top will give you a unibrow look. It all comes down to putting a lot of different pairs on your face before you choose.
4. Center yourself. One rule of thumb: If your eyes are centered both horizontally and vertically in the glasses, you're going to look good in them.
