Hickory - The money probably isn't coming in like it used to, what with the layoffs, pay cuts and furlough days. But the bills are as fast and as furious as ever, especially the one for that cell phone you can't live without. Here's how to save some money on the cell bill.
1. Call your company. Explain the bill is getting too high. If you don't mind stretching the truth, tell them you might have to discontinue service. You never know if it can help.
2. Ask about newer plans. If you've had yours for years, the chances are good there's something different out there that would save you more money.
3. Check to see if you're using all your minutes or going over regularly. You can ask the cell phone com-pany for the records if you don't have it.
4. Ask about loyalty rewards, whether you've been with your carrier for a year or five years.
