Drivers crossing the N.C. 127 bridge that connects Hickory and Bethlehem can count on waiting a while between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday.
One of the two lanes on the bridge will be closed while contractors patch potholes in the concrete surface, said Reuben Chandler, a division maintenance engineer with the N.C. Department of Transportation.
A bridge inspection, as required by the federal government every two years, closed one lane mid-day today. It snarled traffic in both directions.
