Hickory - 1. Speak body language. Make eye contact with that person of interest. Break the touch barrier with a light touch on the arm. And smile, smile, smile!
2. Read body language. When someone faces you or turns toward you as much as possible, that's a good sign. The legs crossed with the toe pointing away from you? That's not so good.
3. Think playful thoughts when gearing up to flirt. Maybe watch a fun, romantic comedy beforehand to get yourself in the mood. It won't hurt to tell your buddies you're going to try to meet someone. They won't let you back out.
4. Be bold. Compliment a stranger on his or her clothes or ask if (s)he knows what's good on this menu or at this bar. You don't have to make an all-out pass. Just start a conversation with a new person to build your confidence.
5. Open up. Tell the object of your desire something about yourself. That makes you easier to like. But don't go on and on. Shut up and listen, too.
