Thank you, Newton-Conover:

Thank you, to everyone involved in the football program at Newton-Conover for the excitement and pride that you have created in this community by winning the 2A state championship in 2008.

This has come at a time when many people in this community needed a lift in spirits.

Thank you, cheerleaders, for your extra work and effort in keeping school spirit at such a high level. Your work is never taken for granted and is appreciated more than you know.

Thank you, Red Devil Marching Band, for a fine performance on the Kenan Stadium turf that supported the fact that we enjoy a fine, overall program at NCHS that works together to continue our outstanding Newton-Conover High School spirit, pride and tradition.

Thank you, Newton-Conover City Schools central office, principals and faculty members for your support during this exciting time.

Your encouragement, understanding and support by your attendance and work at playoff events has been special to our young people and our athletic program.

Your allowing a send-off that let our football team know that they had our total support as a school system is a message to everyone in this community.

Thank you, high school, middle school and elementary school students for the send-off that you provided before the game. Some of those faces have created moments to remember for all of our football team members. Your enthusiasm was contagious.

Thank you, city employees, for the escort you provided as our team was leaving for the game and after returning from Chapel Hill. Your involvement made our team members feel special.

Thank you, media, for your pre-game, game and post-game coverage that provided our community with information and a personal touch that made this entire week special.

Your contributions helped build our excitement and attendance for our big night at the University of North Carolina.

Some of your special interest stories show the human side and the lasting value of high school athletics.

Thank you, community and fans, for the support that you provided by phone calls, letters, words of encouragement and by your attendance in Chapel Hill. Thank you for the congratulatory contacts that you have made after our victorious return.

Thank you for the phone calls offering to cover travel and admissions for some in our community that are finding themselves in some financial stress during this Christmas season.

We are well aware that this community is a wonderful place in which to live and work. How many communities could have provided the send-off, the excitement, the fan support that the Newton-Conover community provided this team?

Our demographics helps to a point, but the difference is the people who are willing to make events such as this special for our young people, our athletic program and our community as a whole.

Certainly, the people of Tarboro and at the North Carolina Athletic Association have seen the support that our community affords Newton-Conover High School.

Thank you, Newton-Conover, for being a very special place for someone to proudly call home.
