Patton's first game in 2A series set

Panthers meet McMichael at 5 p.m. on Friday at N.C. State

RALEIGH - Patton High's opening game in the state 2A best-of-three baseball championship series will begin Friday at 5 p.m.

The Panthers (27-7) meet McMichael (24-6) at N.C. State's Doak Field.

Game 2 is Saturday at 11 a.m. and a third game, if needed, would begin at 5 p.m. that afternoon.

Admission at Doak Field will be $8.

The state 4A series will also be played at Doak Field, starting at 8 p.m. on Friday. That will be East champion Raleigh Sanderson (19-11) against the winner of tonight's Ardrey Kell (24-8) at North Davidson (15-12) third game to decide the West 4A champion.

Here are the game times announced today by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA):

TOPSAIL (21-10) vs. SOUTH STANLY (23-6)
Game 1: Friday, 5 p.m.
Game 2: Saturday, 11 a.m.
Game 3, if needed: Saturday, 5 p.m.

2A at Doak Field, N.C. State

McMICHAEL (24-6) vs. PATTON (27-7)
Game 1: Friday, 5 p.m.
Game 2: Saturday, 11 a.m.
Game 3, if needed: Saturday, 5 p.m.

3A at Five County Stadium, Zebulton

EASTERN WAYNE (25-4) vs. LAKE NORMAN (26-2)
Game 1: Friday, 8 p.m.
Game 2: Saturday, 2 p.m.
Game 3: Saturday 8 p.m. or Saturday 5 p.m. if no third game needed in 1A.

4A at Doak Field, N.C. State
