NEWTON - Arrest warrants were issued Wednesday for four teens police think are responsible for a robbery at H.T. Hackney on Burris Road.
Antonio Markel Hewitt, 19, of Connelly Springs, Ashton Markese Mayfield, 17, of Hickory, Jamar Antonio Martin, 19, of Newton, and Donovan Tyrell, 16, of Hickory, are wanted for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to Newton police.
The teens are suspected of a robbery that happened at 6:45 p.m. on June 9 when a vehicle driven by a young, white female with three black male passengers drove into the parking lot without stopping at the guard station, according to police reports. The suspects were armed with a 12-gauge bolt-action shotgun.
Police said the suspects demanded money from two employees who were on their lunch break at their car in the parking lot. The suspect beat the men with the gun, police said.
A third employee approached as the attack was happening and also was assaulted, police said. A black male struck the man in the head with the gun barrel, causing a minor laceration.
After assaulting the victims, one of the suspects said "Cops, cops," and the suspects drove away, according to witnesses.
A report was issued for area law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for an older model Nissan Maxima. It is described as purple or pink.
The driver is described as a heavy-built white woman in her late teens or early 20s with blonde hair.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the suspects or the robbery is asked to call the Newton Police Department at 465-7430.
