MAGGIE VALLEY - An anonymous investor has donated money to Ghost Town in the Sky, meaning the head of the Western-themed amusement park doesn't need a short-term loan from the town of Maggie Valley.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Wednesday that Ghost Town President and CEO Scott Shiver wouldn't say how much the investor donated. He had been seeking $200,000 from the North Carolina town.
Ghost Town filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year. Shiver plans to open the amusement park Friday for the tourist season.
Shiver says Ghost Town attracted 140,000 visitors in 2007 and 130,000 last year. He hopes it will draw 150,000 visitors this year.
Early season ticket sales are up nearly 150 percent from last year and nearly three times what they were two years ago.
