Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash

A motorcyclist was seriously injured when his bike was hit by a pickup truck at the Iredell-Alexander county line Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on N.C. 90 at the county line.
The motorcycle rider was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Witnesses said he was attempting to turn into the parking lot of a convenience store and was rear-ended by the truck. The motorcycle was trapped beneath the left front tire of the truck. Members of the Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department pulled the motorcycle rider out from under the truck.
The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
A portion of N.C. 90 was closed for about 90 minutes.
