LENOIR - A Lenoir man died as a result of a head-on collision on Morris Creek Road in Granite Falls on Thursday afternoon.

At about 4:15 p.m. a truck driven by Linda Sanders, 47, of Granite Falls, crossed the center line and collided with a car driven by Norman Moore, 38, according to the accident report.

The investigating trooper suspects that Sanders was driving while impaired. A blood alcohol test has been performed and the results are pending, said Sgt. B.E. Morgan of the Highway Patrol.

Sanders' truck overturned, pinning Tyler Sanders, 15, and Jennie A. Ray, 5, of Hudson, inside.

Moore also was pinned inside his car, said Caldwell County Emergency Medical Services Manager Keith Davenport.

The Little River Fire Department and Lovelady Rescue extracted the occupants from their vehicles.

Caldwell County EMS transported Moore and Linda Sanders to the landing zone at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church, where they were met by Wings Flight Service. They were flown to Johnson City Medical Center in Tennessee, where Moore died of his injuries, Davenport said.

Caldwell County EMS transported Tyler Sanders and Ray to Frye Regional Medical Center. Ray was later transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
