HICKORY - A Gepetto's Pizza delivery driver was robbed during a delivery in southwest Hickory on Wednesday night.

The 37-year-old driver was called to a home on Second Avenue, SE. When he arrived, he saw the condition of the house and suspected it was vacant, according to a police report.

The driver got out of his car and walked around the outside of the home with the two pizzas and the chicken wings he was there to deliver. He saw a man at the corner of the house who said, "It's over here." Then two more men appeared and one of them tackled the driver, according to the report.

While on the ground, the driver said, "Take it easy, you can have the money." He reached into his pocket and handed his money to his attackers.

The men asked if that was all the money he had. When he told them it was, they left with the food and ran in the direction of Kenworth Hall, according to the report.

The attackers are described as black men in their early to mid 20s with short hair, medium builds, standing from 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects is asked to call the Hickory Police Department at 328-5551.
