NC group buying anti-Obama ads in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. - COLUMBIA, S.C. — A conservative North Carolina group is spending $10,000 to air ads in South Carolina this week saying President Barack Obama is pushing socialist health care and freeing terrorists to Bermuda.

North Carolina state Sen. Andrew Brock, R-Davie, said Friday that wakeupamerica.com has bought time for the 30-second ad in Columbia, Greenville and Hilton Head Island for two weeks beginning today.
Brock, of Mocksville, said the ads are needed to back up Republican U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, who shouted "You Lie!" at Obama as he pitched overhauling health care.

The ad's reference to freed terrorists to Bermuda is inaccurate, critics said. The men were detained in 2001 but American authorities concluded they were not enemy combatants and did not pose security threats and released them to Bermuda.
