NEWTON - Twenty area young people will be recognized Wednesday during the Hickory Daily Record's "20 Under 40" luncheon.
The public is invited to the program, which will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Catawba Country Club.
Guest speaker will be Todd Starkey, head women's basketball coach at Lenoir-Rhyne University and one of the "20 Under 40" honorees.
Cost is $15 per person. Reservations must be made by 5 p.m. today by calling the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce at 328-6111.
For each of the last three years, the Hickory Daily Record has honored 20 young people who are making a mark in their careers and having a positive impact on their communities.
Nominated by their employers, co-workers and friends, this year's "20 Under 40" honorees include 14 women and six men from the Greater Hickory Metro.
Honorees were selected by a committee that considered volunteerism as well as professional achievement.
In addition to Starkey, the 2009 honorees are Jennifer Morris of Martin Starnes & Associates, Dr. Matt Crouse of Crouse Chiropractic, Melissa Shronce of Davidson, Holland, Whitesell & Co., Rob Winkler of the city of Lenoir, Amy Bechtol of Catawba Valley Community College, Carrie Regan of Century Furniture, Frank Young III of Resource Partners, Ann Moore of Catawba Valley Medical Center, Dana Killian of Frye Regional Medical Center, Juliet Horan of Fleet Feet Sports, DeAnna Finger of Catawba County Schools, Michael McNally of Burke County Chamber of Commerce, Christina McNally of Catawba County Public Health, Katie Perry of 72 Degrees Air Conditioning and Heating, Emma Sellers of Lenoir-Rhyne University, Michael Thomas of Patrick, Harper & Dixon, Sara Waugh of Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn, Lisa Miller of Women's Resource Center and Camille Sterling of Western Piedmont Regional Transit Authority.
