ABINGDON, Va. - Two men have been sentenced to life in prison in connection with a multistate crack-distribution ring.
Federal prosecutors say 26-year-old Paul Alston Vaughn Jr. of Burlington, N.C., and 38-year-old Douglas Lee Stallworth of Bristol, Va., were sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Abingdon.
Each was convicted of one count of conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine.
Prosecutors say Vaughn and Stallworth were involved in a drug-trafficking ring organized by members of a music production company based in Burlington, N.C. It operated in southwest Virginia, northeast Tennessee and North Carolina.
The U.S. attorney's office says 49 people have been convicted in the case. Three are awaiting sentencing.
