Why go: The RugBugs youth theater troupe present plays for kids, by kids and about kids. This one, about siblings who inherit a haunted theater and some creepy Realtors, is just spooky – and just safe – enough.

Why go: A big name comes to the small town. It'll be worth the drive to Morganton to check them out.

Why go: Big fun in a small package. You'll want to get on board when you see this nifty little village with its tiny people and buildings.
