Hickory High’s boys closed out a share of the Northwestern 3A-4A basketball title with a 54-40 victory Friday night over visiting Fred T. Foard on Senior Night at Craft Gym.

Hickory High has forfeited nine varsity football games – all eight of its wins and a tie from last season -- for inadvertently using an ineligible player.
Rivalry games are always tough, especially for the team visiting on a Senior Night.
Hickory High’s girls remained unbeaten in the Northwestern 3A-4A on Tuesday night, beating visiting South Caldwell 52-45.
The third time is the charm.

St. Stephens High’s swimmers dethroned defending champion Hickory on Tuesday night, sweeping boys’ and girls’ titles in the second annual Catawba County Championship meets at the Hickory YMCA.
Five nights before, the Hickory High boys and Alexander Central had squared off in a last-shot thriller in the finals of the Catawba Valley Classic.

John Worley is retiring after nearly 30 years as an athletic fixture at Hickory High.
