Mayfield, 42, was in Catawba County Superior Court Monday on five felony charges that stem from a search warrant that was executed at his Catawba home in November. He is facing one count of possession of methamphetamine for 1.5 grams officers found in his home, three counts of possession of stolen goods and one count of obtaining property by false pretenses.     One week after former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield was indicted on charges in Catawba County, he is facing additional counts in Caldwell County. Mayfield, 42, was indicted on four counts of felony larceny on Monday, all related to DEA Ventures, a trucking company in Hudson. According to the indictment, Mayfield stole four trailers from the company on Feb. 26, 2011. One of the trailers contained a sofa, loveseat, trunk, chest-of-drawers, table, cabinet and three chairs belonging to DEA Ventures.

  • Jeremy Mayfield indicted on four felony charges

    Former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield was indicted by a Catawba County grand jury on Monday for three counts of possession of stolen goods and one count of obtaining property by false pretenses. According to the indictment, two of the possession of stolen goods charges occurred in November 2011. The other two charges occurred in November 2010. All charges are felonies. Mayfield, 42, already is facing a felony charge for possession of methamphetamine. He was indicted on the charge in November by a grand jury in November.

    Investigators returned to Jeremy Mayfield’s home with another search warrant Wednesday morning, this time seizing furniture from his home on Hudson Chapel Road in Catawba. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office first served a search warrant on Mayfield’s home on Nov. 1, with officers from Lincoln and Iredell counties. While at his home, they took photos of items at Mayfield’s house, said Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid. Wednesday’s search warrant was issued by the Hudson Police Department.

    Former NASCAR racer Jeremy Mayfield was indicted on one count of possession of methamphetamine Monday afternoon. Mayfield, 42, was initially arrested Nov. 1 after Sgt. Aaron Turk with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office received information from an unnamed source. The source said Mayfield and several acquaintances went to five businesses and stole several items, according to a search warrant. The source said the items from those break-ins could be found on Mayfield’s 388-acre property on Hudson Chapel Road. During the search of Mayfield’s home in Catawba, investigators found more than $100,000 worth of goods, including scrap metal, a chassis jig, an engraving machine, sound equipment, Red Bull Racing apparel and other items that were reported stolen from several businesses in Lincoln and Iredell counties. The businesses were broken into in 2010 and early 2011.

    Former NASCAR racer Jeremy Mayfield is in trouble again. He was arrested at his home Tuesday night for possession of methamphetamine. Investigators with the Lincoln and Catawba County sheriff’s offices, as well as the Mooresville Police Department, went to Mayfield’s home off Hudson Chapel Road in Catawba after getting a tip from a source that Mayfield had stolen property at his home, said Capt. Joel Fish with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
