When Newt Gingrich spoke to area residents in Conover on Thursday morning, it was not about what he would do as president of the United States. His campaign confirmed on Tuesday that those dreams vanished for good with the loss of Delaware and four other states to Republican contender Mitt Romney. Instead, he spoke about the troubled direction the country was headed in, what he had accomplished as Speaker of the House and ways America could bail itself out of its debt.
