Catawba County goals for 2008 Short Session

• Support an increase to $35,000 in the Homestead Exclusion Income Limit — partially accomplished, will revisit during Long Session

• Support flexible local revenue options to avoid future property tax increases or reduce the property tax rate — partially accomplished

• Catawba County opposes the $2 per ton Solid Waste Disposal Tax and will work for repeal of the tax — repeal did not happen but changes in the law were made

• Support an exemption of state sales tax on purchases made by local school systems — not adopted

• Support a more fair distribution in the School Capital Fund Formula/ Lottery Proceeds — partially accomplished

• Support additional childcare subsidies funding — partially accomplished

• Support re-establishment of Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) funding in the state's continuation budget — accomplished
