This is in response to Mr. Brinson's guest commentary (Dec. 7). I agree with Mr. Brinson that global warming should not be about politics but about science. Unfortunately, that is all in which we agree. As for science, there is more science that contradicts the manmade global warming theory.
I got interested in this topic when Al Gore stated that the argument is over.
I can address many of the claims stated by Mr. Brinson by explaining that CO2 levels lag temperature increases and point to the political nature of the United Nations IPCC. The group wrote the conclusions before the data was presented. I can talk about how the rising sea level has been declining for several years.
I can point out that the Earth's temperature has not risen since about 1998. The point is there is much to debate and discuss. There is a lot of conflicting information that says that man is not causing the globe to warm.
Science should drive change not politicians. When the people start noticing that the earth is cooling, what will that do to our faith in science? If our country depends on a free and unbiased press, then we are in trouble. There are thousands of scientists who disagree with the manmade global warming theory. Where is the press?
When our government starts taxing power companies, institute carbon caps and trade and other things, can our economy survive? Look at Europe and you will see people starting to realize that there are real problems with political solutions put in place over there.
Let the debate continue.

Don't buy into global warming panic
Lee Brinson's "Green energy programs must have public support" is frightening. I recycle, conserve water and turn my lights out when I leave a room, but I'm not doing enough?
I must support a green agenda that precludes drilling offshore and in Alaska. I must buy a windmill and a solar panel, or the world is lost.
Why do I not buy this panic when, with a little research on the Web, I discovered that the secretary general of the World Meteorological Organization, Michel Jarraud, announced that there has been no increase in global temperatures for a decade?
Why do I want to commit economic suicide by committing my tax dollars to unproven technologies in the name of the man-made global warming panic when Mr. Brinson's 3,000 scientists are at least matched by scientists who argue that, if there is global warming, it may not be man-made (example: La Nina).
This news is not catastrophic, and therefore not fit to print, but the BBC, a politically-correct green organization, reported cooling over the last decade.
I am going out and hug a tree, shoot my truck and write a check to Al Gore for a carbon credit.

Day of infamy will not be forgotten
Dec. 7 is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
FDR stated that this day "will live in infamy."
Dece. 7 is a day I shall never forget.
