HICKORY - Relief may be on the way for patrons with outstanding fines owed to Hickory's libraries.

The Hickory City Council will discuss a proposed plan that would allow people with fines to pay them off by donating cans of food during the first week of Dec. according to the published meeting agenda.

In other business Connie Kincaid is scheduled to present a report detailing the economic impact of this year's Oktoberfest.

The council also plans to discuss matching funds in the amount of $5,000 for Sunbelt's new fire hydrant and the Hickory Police Department's new communications system.
