CCS to accept student transfer requests Friday

Catawba County Schools is opening its doors for student transfers on Friday, May 1 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the district Annex building at 2285 North Anderson Ave. in Newton.

Schools that have no room for transfer students are Banoak, Blackburn, Claremont, Maiden, Mountain View, Sherrills Foard, St. Stephens elementaries and Arndt Middle School. Challenger High School is also not on the list, but that is because students must apply and be accepted.

Balls Creek Elementary
Nine open spaces, all of them in kindergarten through third grade.

Campbell Elementary
Seven open spaces, in grades one, three and four.

Catawba Elementary
Eighteen open spaces, all grades.

Lyle Creek Elementary
Fifteen open spaces in every grade but fifth.

Murray Elementary
Three open spaces in second grade only.

Oxford Elementary
Seventeen open spaces in every grade but fifth.

Snow Creek Elementary
Six open spaces in first, second and fourth grades.

Tuttle Elementary
Twelve open spaces in every grade but two and six.

Jacobs Fork Middle
Three open spaces.

Maiden Middle
Four open spaces.

Mill Creek Middle
Three open spaces.

River Bend Middle
Four open spaces.

Bandys High
Five open spaces.

Bunker Hill High
Five open spaces.

Fred T. Foard High
Three open spaces.

Maiden High
Five open spaces.

St. Stephens High
Three open spaces.
