A man was shot Monday morning when someone broke into his home and robbed him.

Ronnie Canipe was at his home in the 700 block of 22nd Street, SW, at about 5:45 a.m. when a white man came into his home and demanded money, said Investigator Ray Denton with the Long View Police Department.

The man got money out of Canipe's wallet and shot Canipe in the shoulder before fleeing the home.

Canipe was taken to the hospital. He has since been treated and released.

Canipe had seen the robber before, but was not an acquaintance, Denton said.

There was no sign of forced entry to Canipe's home.

The suspect is described as a white male with dark hair, a mustache and shorter than 5 feet 8 inches.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Long View Police Department at 327-2343.
