Heil Screw Products, a manufacturer of precision screw products in metals and plastics, will create 10 new jobs as it relocates from New York to Conover.
Specializing in optical screws and miniature fasteners, Heil Screw Products has purchased a 13,000-square-foot building at 1114 W. First St.
"The new facility in Conover creates strong potential for us to grow in our markets and will allow us to expand the services we offer our customers," said Jim Heil, owner of Heil Screw Products.
"We look forward to a long and productive future in Catawba County."
Heil Screw Products is working with the North Carolina Employment Security Commission to fill its employment needs. More information is available at the Employment Security Commission office at 3301 U.S. 70, SE, or by calling 466-5535.
The Catawba County Economic Development Corp. has been working with Heil Screw Products on its move to Catawba County for more than a year, said Julie Pruett, director of recruitment for the organization.
"Heil Screw Products is representative of privately owned manufacturing businesses that typically thrive in our community," Pruett said.
Conover Mayor Bruce Eckard was pleased by the announcement.
"I'm excited to see Heil Screw Products relocate to an existing facility and diversify the industrial manufacturing base of Conover," Eckard said.
"Conover's long-term economic development strategy is to attract dozens of small to medium-size businesses with a variety of products and markets."
Machining of plastics and metals will be a great fit for the skill sets of the county's existing work force, said Kitty Barnes, chairwoman of the Catawba County Board of Commissioners.
"Catawba County continues to attract companies such as Heil Screw Products because of our history and tradition of excellence in manufacturing."
