Police charged a Lenoir man with murder Tuesday, following an argument that led to a fatal shooting.
An incomplete 911 call came in at about 11:30 a.m. and led officers to Edward Carlton Anderson's home at 1876 Guildwood Place, Lenoir. When they arrived, they found Larry Eugene Kidd, 51, of Hudson, dead of what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Anderson, 50, was still at the home when officers arrived.
He was arrested without incident.
"There were other adults in the house when we got there," Captain Sid Pope of the Lenoir Police Department. They have not been charged in the murder.
Kidd was known to spend the night at the home where he was killed. He and Anderson are family, although it remains unclear how exactly the two are related, Pope said.
Pope would not say why the two had argued.
Kidd's autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The official results of the autopsy will not become available for several weeks.
The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.
Anderson is being held in the Caldwell County jail without bond. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 11.
Pope said the quick response of his officers made the arrest possible.
