"Baby Luke is off bypass!!!!"
That is the first thing a person visiting the Caring Bridge Web site sees on the page for Luke Sigmon, the 2 1/2-month-old son of Lyndsi and Wesley Sigmon of Sherrills Ford.
Luke underwent his second heart surgery at Boston Children's Hospital on Thursday, and his parents blogged about the experience starting at 7:35 a.m. The last message was posted at 2:18 p.m. with the notice about Luke being off the bypass machine, which takes over for the heart during heart surgery.
The next phase for Luke is recovery, but all looks well so far.
On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dana Andreasson will hold a fundraiser for the Sigmons.
Andreasson, who owns Orange Cat Photography in Harris Arcade in downtown Hickory, is offering mini sessions, 15-minute photo shoots, for $75. The proceeds will go to the Sigmons to help with medical bills.
On her Web site (http://blog.orangecatphoto.com/), Andreasson said she also is accepting check donations made out to Orange Cat Photo. Checks may be mailed to her business at 221 First Ave., Suite 206, Hickory, N.C. 28601.
Luke was born Dec. 3.
