A Maiden man was arrested last week and charged with four felony counts of sex offenses.
Jay Warren Smith, 47, of Graystone Lane, was placed in the Lincoln County jail under a $165,000 secured bond, according to the arrest report.
The alleged incidents happened during October and November 2007. At the time, the victim was 13 years old, according to reports.
Smith was taken into custody in Concord on Thursday by Concord police and was transported to Lincolnton for processing.
A warrant taken out on Smith on Thursday, charging him with statutory rape/sex offense with a 13-, 14- or 15- year-old by a defendant 6 years older, taking indecent liberties with children, sex offense — intercourse by a guardian, and selling or distributing a controlled substance to a minor.
Attempts to reach the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office for comment were unsuccessful.
