Taylorsville woman wins $100K in lottery

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A quick stop at a convenience store made Rebecca Carrier of Taylorsville one of the North Carolina Education Lottery's latest big winners. Carrier bought one "Mega Bucks" instant scratch-off ticket and says she was in shock when she scratched it off and saw that it was worth the top prize of $100,000.

"I always said I'd win big," Carrier said. "I'm not through!" she added.

Carrier bought her winning ticket at the Market Basket No. 18 on Highway 16 North in Conover. While she doesn't have any plans to splurge on herself, she says some of her family members have requested a new computer, which she will buy for them.

Among other lottery winners:

Harold Buff of Lincolnton won $69,555 in "Carolina Cash 5" with a ticket purchased at Cubbard Express No. 8 in Hickory.

Paul Curtis of Conover won $10,000 in the Jan. 17 Powerball drawing with a ticket purchased at Market Basket No. 14 in Conover.

Vickie Johnson of Conover won $10,000 playing the "$200,000 Jackpot" scratch-off ticket game.
