Matt McCall decided to go to the back of the pack and take his chances Saturday night.
He did just fine, taking the lead on the 150th lap of the Dwight Huffman Memorial race at Hickory Motor Speedway and outdueling Steven Wallace for the victory in a three-hour race.
By going to the back of the field and winning, McCall – from Denver, N.C. – doubled his prize money and took home $14,0007.
Wallace's car experienced problems on the backstretch on Lap 73 of a 177-lap race.
Paddy Rodenbeck finished second and David Wilson finished third.
The race included 13 caution flags, including four in the final 27 laps.
