A man who set fire to his own home was arrested and charged with one count of felony fraudulently burning of a dwelling.

Charles Daniel Oakley, 36, set fire to his home at about 4 a.m. on Green Acres Lane in Bethlehem on May 16, said Capt. Keith Warren with the Alexander County Sheriff's Office. When the fire department and the sheriff's office arrived, Oakley admitted to setting the fire, Warren said.

Oakley had been having domestic problems, and set his home on fire using gas, Warren said. The house was a total loss.

Oakley was arrested on Monday and placed in jail under a $25,000 secured bond.
