The Hickory Community Theatre Guild and the Sons of Confederate Veterans present the living history event - Nora Brooks, "An Evening with Mildred Childe Lee" on Friday April 3rd at 7:30 in the Firemen's Kitchen at HCT.

Mildred Childe Lee was the youngest daughter of General Robert E. Lee. Ms. Brooks performance brings this historical figure to vibrant life as she shares the story of life with her famous father. The convincing performance provides detailed insight into the family life of Gen. and Mrs. Lee and their children.

Nora Brooks, a long time teacher in Union County Schools, gave her first person account of Anna Jackson last year to a sold out Firemen's Kitchen audience. The response to Brooks' evening with Mrs. Jackson prompted sponsors to present the Mildred Lee portrayal.

Nora Brooks teaches honors and advanced placement history of the United States, War for Southern Independence and the Revolution at Sun Valley High School in Union County, North Carolina. She is an alumnus of the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College and a recipient of the Jefferson Davis Medal for Promotion and Preservation of Southern History by the North Carolina Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Light refreshments will be served and door prizes given. Admission is just $10 per person and advance purchase is recommended. For information and advance tickets call (828) 327-3855.

The Firemen's Kitchen is located in the HCT complex at 30 3rd St NW in downtown Hickory.

HCT is a Funded Affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
