»  Comments | Post a Comment

An 18-year-old woman told authorities she was forced at gunpoint to drive from Lenoir-Rhyne University to Cherryville around midnight Tuesday.
The woman is now safe, according to officials.
Hickory police are canvassing the college campus, where the woman told officers she encountered the suspect as she left work. The 18-year-old is not a student at the university but works for Aramark, which handles dining services, said Margaret Allen, a university spokeswoman.
The Hickory Daily Record has a reporter on the scene at Lenoir-Rhyne. We will have more details online as they become available and in Thursday's edition.
