Arrest made in Alexander County standoff

A 911 call came in about 6:15 p.m. that a domestic disturbance involving an intoxicated individual was under way.
As Alexander County sheriff's deputies made their way to the scene, they were told that the man in the home was armed and had said, "he was waiting for the officers and that it would be ugly," according to the incident report.
When they arrived at the scene, they found Floyd Alvin Hamby, 52, inside the home and armed with a shotgun aimed at the door. Deputies took cover and after several minutes, were able to persuade Hamby to put down the weapon and surrender.
The officers then entered the home and arrested Hamby.
He was charged with three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
The assault on a law officer with a gun charges stem from allegations the suspect pointed a shotgun at officers prior to the officers entering the home and that when the deputies entered the home the shotgun was lying on a table pointed at them, said Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman.
No shots were fired during the incident.
Hamby was jailed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
