A mobile home was destroyed Friday morning in a fire that's been ruled accidental.

One person was in the singlewide mobile home at 1756 Ponderosa Road when the fire started at about 10 a.m., said Mark Pettit, Catawba County Fire Marshal.

The fire started in a back bedroom, and investigators believe it was started by something electrical, but are still investigating, Pettit said.

The man who was inside at the time of the fire escaped safely. The mobile home was owned by the man's family, Pettit said.

The Red Cross is assisting the man with accommodations.

The home is considered a total loss.
