»  Comments | Post a Comment

A man was robbed of his wallet, but found the wallet a short time later, discarded by the thief when he found there was nothing of value inside.

James Rinehardt was on Third Avenue, SE, on Friday morning when a man asked him for change for a $5 bill, according to police reports.

When Rinehardt told the man he didn't have change, the man pushed him down and took Rinehardt's wallet, the police report states. Rinehardt, 70, said he didn't have any money in his wallet, only his ID card and his Social Security card.

Rinehardt called police later in the day on Friday, after he found his wallet discarded, with his two cards still inside.

Hickory police are looking for a young black male who is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 140 pounds. He was wearing a black and white jacket and jeans and had long dreadlocks.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hickory Police Department at 328-5551.
