Riverbend Park closed today

Hickory --

Riverbend Park, off Highway 16 North at the Catawba River in Catawba County, will be closed today. Duke Energy will open the flood gates at Oxford Dam following recent heavy rains.
For safety reasons, County policy is that Riverbend Park is closed when the flood gates are open at the Dam.
Catawba County Parks staff say they are hopeful Riverbend Park will reopen Friday.
