Deputies found Glenda Dian Peck shot dead on the floor of her Lenoir home early Saturday morning. The woman's 68-year-old husband, Herbert Lawrence Peck, has been charged with first-degree murder.
A female called 911 from the Covington Way house at 4:11 a.m. Saturday, reporting her husband was having a medical problem and was becoming violent, said a press release from the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.
After finding Peck shot several times, deputies found her husband hiding in a closet, according to the press release.
The Caldwell County Communications Center lost phone contact with the unidentified female caller before officers and medical responders could reach the home Saturday morning. When deputies arrived at the locked house, they could look through a window to see Glenda Peck on the floor. Deputies then forced their way into the home.
Caldwell County Sheriff Alan Jones said in the press release that the investigation is active and he is confident questions surrounding Glenda Peck's death will be answered.
