As the Halloween tale "Bunnicula" begins its second weekend, the Hickory Community Theatre offers special treats for playgoers. It's Family Friday. One child gets in free with each paid adult at the 7:30 p.m. performance.
The Saturday and Sunday matinees are Kids' Days, with free candy for each child. In addition, the Sunday matinee is a Super Sunday performance with all adult and senior citizen tickets priced at $10.
"Bunnicula" is the stage version of the best-selling book, with several songs. It is dubbed "a funny spooky Halloween tale for the whole family." It tells the story of a vampire rabbit that sucks the juice from vegetables.
Performances of "Bunnicula" are 7:30 p.m. Fridays through Oct. 30 and 2:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 1.
Regularly price tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and $7 for youth. Get tickets online at www.hct.org or call 328-2283 to buy by phone.
Photo opportunities with Bunnicula will be available after every performance for $5. The theater also is raffling a birthday party at Bo's Family Entertainment in Lenoir. "Bunnicula" himself is scheduled to sign books at Barnes & Noble from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. This is also a book fair event, raising funds for the HCT youth theater.
