Column in Record refreshing, realistic

It is so refreshing to find a column "For Seniors Only."

Marcy Buchanan takes us back to those good old days with a flair for comedy. Can you imagine getting on a city bus with a live chicken? If one were to do that today, someone would probably shoot the chicken (and possibly Marcy!)

Her true stories are so realistic and just plain fun. In these trying times, we need a good laugh.

Thanks Marcy.

Government can't get any program right

The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. Our government has had 234 years to get it right, and it is broke.

Social Security was established in 1935. Our government has had 74 years to get it right, and it is broke.

War on poverty started in 1964. Our government has had 45 years to get it right. $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to the poor, and they only want more.

Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. Our government has had 44 years to get them right, and they are broke.

The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before.

Our government has had 32 years to get it right, and it is an abysmal failure.

The government has failed in every "government service" they have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.

And now they want Americans to believe they can be trusted with a government-run health care system.

In our time, evil is called good and good evil

We are living at a time that tries men's souls. It is a time where evil is called good, and good is called evil.

As I recall, God had something to say about that. He said, "Woe unto those who call good, evil and evil, good." Yet, our Supreme Court has ruled that the murder of the unborn is OK and sodomy, what God calls a sin, is OK. The Supreme Court has also ruled that God's Bible is a public school no-no and the Ten Commandments can't be posted in our public schools, and Jesus' name cannot be uttered in a public prayer. Our Supreme Court has even ruled that our First Amendment to the Constitution means there is a separation of church and state. What nonsense!

We have these miscreant professors who hold their Christian students in contempt, and some even have the temerity to mock God.

We have malefactor politicians who do all they can to keep God from too much exposure, and they seem to always want Him to be seen in a bad light.

Our media treats God in much the same way.

If this continues as is, I see this nation treated like Israel of old and put in bondage or treated like Sodom and Gomorrah.

The latter fate may be kinder.
