Women's Resource Center is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the National Women's History Project with a local student writing contest, "Writing Women Back into History."
Students in two divisions — grades six to eight and grades nine to 12 — are invited to compete in the poetry and essay contest, writing 500 words or less about influential women in the Catawba Valley area. One poetry and essay winner will be chosen from each division and winners will be announced during National Women's History Month in March.
Each entry must be typed or legibly written and include a completed entry form. For information about the contest guidelines and to receive entry forms, contact Susan Huttman at 322-6333 or outreach@wrchickory.org.
Entries must be received or postmarked no later than Feb. 26. You can learn more about NWHP at www.nwhp.org.
