After a woman claimed ownership of half the marijuana her boyfriend was being arrested for, police arrested her too.

At about 11:30 p.m. Friday night, Hickory police officers went to the Budget Inn to check on reports that one of the occupants of the hotel was selling marijuana from his room.

When Jordan Craig Wilburn, 18, of Hickory opened the door to answer the officers' knock they saw a marijuana cigarette beside the bed and asked to search the room. The Wilburn gave them his permission and officers found a bag of marijuana and several smaller bags of the drug, according to the police report.

As they were about to arrest Wilburn, Danielle Nicole Smith, 18, of Hildebran said, "I'm not going to let him go down for all of it - half of it was mine,'' according to the report.

Wilburn and Smith were arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana. Their bonds were set at $300 unsecured.
