HICKORY
Gregory R. Hayes, district court judge for the 25th Judicial District, has filed for re-election with the state Board of Elections.
"I appreciate the trust and confidence the voters and citizens have placed in me," he said. "I strive to treat all people in court as I would like to be treated: patiently, respectfully, and fairly."
First elected in 1994, Hayes currently is a specialized family court judge in a program designed to streamline cases to make them more efficient and resolved more quickly.
He is also a specialized domestic violence court judge, handling criminal and civil components of domestic violence cases.
Hayes is also a certified juvenile judge.
He lives in Hickory with his wife, Kimberly Hayes, and children Kate and Ben.
