CCS approves snow make-up days

Catawba County Schools will make up the remaining February missed snow days on Friday, April 2, Monday, May 31, and Friday, June 11. The Catawba County Board of Education approved the make-up dates at its board meeting Monday.

Both Friday, April 2, and Friday, June 11, will be early release days. June 10, previously the last day of school, will become a full student day.

Superintendent Tim Markley cautioned that if more days are missed in the upcoming months the calendar could be changed again.

"If we miss another day we will plan to make it up on Saturday during the week it is missed," he said. "If additional days must be made up, we would most likely take the last two days of spring break, April 8 and 9, in lieu of being in session on June 11."

So far, students in Catawba County Schools have missed four days this year: Feb. 1, 2, 3 and 5. School was open for students on Feb. 15 as a make-up day, leaving three remaining days to reschedule.
