Vale man wins share of lottery drawing

RALEIGH — A Vale man split the pot with a Raleigh man in the Dec. 23 Cash 5 lottery.

Rich Rhyne of Vale won $231,311 in the drawing, with a ticket that matched all five numbers. After taxes, his winnings were $157,291.

He said he and his wife may take a trip. Rhyne said he also plans to buy some farm equipment and put some in savings.

His wife said she would be doing some shopping.

Rhyne bought his winning ticket at West Express on West Highway 27 in Vale in Lincoln County.

Benny McKoy of Raleigh won the other half of the pot. He said he plans to travel with his winnings. He also plans to pay off his college tuition and give some to family.
