Learn about bluebird conservation and how to attract these beautiful, beneficial birds to your backyard.
Bring Back the Bluebird is March 13 at Catawba Science Center in Hickory.
The day's program includes a bluebird house building workshop for families from noon to 1:45 p.m. in the Inventor's Workshop.
Teams of one adult and up to two children, ages 6 and older, can make their own bluebird houses. The cost is $20 for science center member teams and $30 for nonmember teams.
The registration fee includes one bluebird house kit. Additional kits are $15 each and can be ordered at the time of program registration.
Join Bob Warmuth, Lake Hickory Country Club Bluebird Project coordinator, and Kristin Dzimitrowicz, Catawba County coordinator for the N.C. Bluebird Society, for a 2 p.m. public program in the Arts & Science Center Choral Room. They'll talk about local conservation efforts and tips for attracting bluebirds to your yard.
The program is free with general science center admission of $6 for adults; $4 for youth ages 3 to 18, seniors 62 and older and college students and active military members with ID.
Admission is free for CSC members and children younger than 3.
