Nissan of Hickory has been selected as a Motor Trend Certified Advantage dealership — one of the first in the United States chosen to participate in a new pre-owned vehicle certification program created for Motor Trend and powered by EasyCare.
A Motor Trend designation ceremony, hosted by Motor Trend and EasyCare representative Jennifer Silverberg, vice president of marketing, will be held at Nissan of Hickory, 1555 U.S. 321 North, at 1 p.m. Thursday.
By operating as a Motor Trend Certified Advantage dealership, Nissan of Hickory aims to provide consumers with the added assurance that its preowned vehicle purchases meet the standards of the Motor Trend program as well as provide other enhanced ownership benefits typically associated only with luxury vehicle purchases.
The new program, which officially launches at the dealership on Thursday also provides drivers other benefits including mechanical repair coverage, paintless dent removal, guaranteed key replacement, 24/7 concierge service, a three-day or 300-mile exchange policy and a best value guarantee.
Sorority hosts abuse prevention program
HICKORY
Kappa Delta sorority at Lenoir-Rhyne University will host a walk-a-thon on April 10 to benefit children in the community who are victims of abuse and neglect.
Registration for "No Excuse for Abuse" will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. April 10 in front of Shuford Gym on the Lenoir-Rhyne campus. The walk begins at 11 a.m.
The student registration fee is $10, and the nonstudent registration fee is $15. Eighty percent of proceeds will remain in North Carolina, benefiting local efforts to prevent child abuse. The remaining 20 percent will go to Prevent Child Abuse America, the sorority's national philanthropy, for nationwide public awareness programs.
The sorority will join thousands of Kappa Deltas throughout the nation to raise funds to benefit local affiliates and chapters of PCA America.
"This is an awesome opportunity for family, friends and students to all come out and have a great time raising money for this charity," said Alyssa Carlson, a walk-a-thon planner.
According to recent PCA America statistics, there are more than 35 reported cases of child abuse in Catawba County each year. Nationwide, three children die each day from abuse or neglect.
Founded in 1897, Kappa Delta Sorority began supporting PCA America in 1981.
