Read to a dog at Hickory library

Hickory Public Library is contin­uing its popular program f­or young readers —"Paws to R­ead."

The program offers beginning and reluctant readers an o­pportu-nity to hone their skills while read­ing to a certified therapy d­og.

People are invited to go to Patrick Beaver Memorial Library and read to a dog on Wednesday af­ternoons at 4 and 4:30 p.m., or on Thursday evenings at 6:15 and 7 p.m. Dogs are available at Ridgeview Branch Library Mon­days and Tuesdays at 4 and 4:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 6:15 and 7 p.m. Appointments are on a fi­rst­come basis. Call Patrick B­eaver Memorial Library at 304-0500 x7271 or Ridgeview Branch Li­brary at 345-6037 to sign up for a reading a­ppointment.

Patrick Beaver Memorial Li­brary is at 375 Third St., NE, on the SALT Block. R­idgeview Branch Library is at 706 First S­t., S­W.
