Community briefs: GOP to h­ave county convention; Friends discuss book sale

The Catawba County Republican Party will have its 2010 county convention on March 20 at the old 1924 Catawba County Courthouse, 30 North College Ave., on the downtown square.

The meeting will take place in the Robert E. Hibbitts Meeting Room.

All registered Republi­cans and registered In­dependents are invited.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 10 a.m. The convention starts at 10 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m.

The theme of t­his year's convention is "Celebrating Our Patri­otic Roots."

Friends group to discuss book sale

Friends of Catawba County Library will meet at 11 a.m. M­onday, March 15, at Main L­i­brary.

On the agenda will be discussion of the ongo­ing book sale and sup­port of library projects including materials pur­chases, Summer Read­ing and support of up­coming author v­isits.

Friends is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that serves as a co­mmu­nity liaison and support group for the e­ntire county library system.

The group welcomes in­terested members of the community. For more in­formation call 465-8-292.
